JODI MARR

Multi-award winning songwriter, producer composer and author Jodi Marr has written and produced hit songs across genres for artists and icons including Ricky Martin, Carole King and Dolly Parton as well as Kristin Chenoweth, Sara Evans, ex-Spice Girls Melanie C, Charlie XCX, Orianthi, Rita Wilson, Juno Award-winning Johnny Reid and Gramps Morgan.

Jodi discovered, developed and produced hit songs for several UK-based pop acts who went on to global success, including MIKA and Paloma Faith. Jodi wrote and produced global hit singles including Paloma’s “New York” and MIKA’s, “Grace Kelly”a recent TikTok phenomenon (#gracekellychallenge at 615 million views & counting) as well as multiple tracks on MIKA’s multi-platinum debut album, “Life in Cartoon Motion.

She has won Grammy, Ivor Novello, Canadian Radio Music, and International Reggae and World Music Awards for her work and numerous Gold, Platinum and Grammy certifications. 

In 2020 and 2021 following the tragic shooting in Nova Scotia and again at the height of the Covid Pandemic, she wrote two songs donating proceeds to charities that raced up the iTunes charts to #1, including “People Like You” for the Red Cross, (hits for both Johnny Reid and Gramps Morgan) and “Pink” for Dolly Parton with Monica, Sara Evans, Jordin Sparks and Rita Wilson

The song “PINK” was written and recorded as an anthem for the breast cancer community in support of Susan G. Komen. The moving lyrics and vocals provide breast cancer survivors, patients, and loved ones with hope for a future when no one loses someone they love to breast cancer. 

In 2021 her songs with Gramps Morgan and Johnny Reid won several IRAWMA International Reggae and World Music Awards, and in July 2021 her worldwide hit “Grace Kelly” went viral on TikTok again during the ongoing “Grace Kelly Challenge” craze, already at a combined 500 million views. 

Her song “LOKO” co-written with DESMOND CHILD and performed by Christian Pagán made the SEMI-FINALS representing Puerto Rico on NBC's first season of the “American Song Contest” 2022-23. 

In addition to accumulating numerous Gold, Platinum and Grammy certifications, Jodi (who writes in three languages) has served on the Board of Governors for the Latin Grammys and is a founding member of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame.

She is currently writing songs, developing artists and teaching Commercial Songwriting and Artist Development at Nashville’s Belmont University. In 2022, she developed a first-of-its-kind university course in Artist Identity and Development, now part of the permanent Belmont Commercial Songwriting curriculum. 

Jodi channels her diverse experience, and keen expertise into the popular weekly newsletter, “From Songwriter to Star,” where she shares a practical and inspiring weekly ‘how to’ guide for developing songwriters. 

Her book and podcast set for 2025 release are companion to her songwriting and artist development newsletter, “From Songwriter to Star.” She is currently co-authoring a book on Commercial songwriting with her mentor and friend, iconic producer/songwriter hitmaker, Desmond Child.

Jodi is also currently writing and producing a debut project with London-based artist and DJ Pheonix Brown, daughter of Mel B of Spice Girls fame.

Jodi composed the music for Nashville Children’s Theatre 2019 production of “TOMAS & THE LIBRAY LADY ”and in 2023 she composed the music for an original children’s musical “THE GINGERBREAD KID,” (book by Abe Reybold) which premiered at the Nashville Children’s Theatre on January 27th, 2024.

The finale song from the show, “Life is Sweet” was chosen for showcase at the 2024 Theatre for Young Audiences Annual Summit, presented in March 2024 in Atlanta, GA.
